A Thai footballer died after suffering a heart attack on the field, causing fans to mourn.
On 17 Mar 2026 GMT+7, a tragic incident occurred in the southern football circuit in Phuket Province, where a footballer collapsed from a heart attack during a match and later died.
The player was identified as Mr. Veeranan, 45, wearing a blue jersey with orange stripes and blue shorts with orange stripes. He suddenly lost consciousness and fell on the field, shocking teammates and spectators.
The Facebook page 'Ho Jang Phuket Province' posted a clip with the message, "Sad - the moment a #footballer suffered a heart attack in a popular Phuket league game. The page admin and team offer condolences and remind everyone to exercise caution, especially as Phuket's weather is very hot right now."
A Facebook user, his younger sister Punika Thammaphasopon, commented, "That’s my older brother. He passed away last night."
Other netizens questioned whether there was a medical or rescue team present, as matches should have medical staff to care for players in emergencies.
"Was there no medical team or rescue staff? Usually, football fields or competitions have standby personnel. Watching the clip until the end, those helping did not include any medical or rescue team members."
"Is there an AED machine at the stadium? Time is critical; the longer the delay, the less chance of survival."
