"The Tuck," Piyapong Piew-on, believes the two strikers currently in the national team camp are enough to compete against Turkmenistan but is concerned about the central defensive pairing and is waiting to see how the coach manages it.
On 28 March 2026, "The Tuck," Piyapong Piew-on, member of the Football Association of Thailand's board and spokesperson, and former Thai national team striker, shared his perspective on the situation regarding Thailand's attacking players.
After Yotsakorn Burapha suffered a right knee ligament injury, and the first replacement called up, Teerasil Dangda, also faced problems with injuries in both legs, preventing him from joining the squad, Anthony Hudson, head coach of the Thai national team, had to select Ben Davis, originally a midfielder, as a striker substitute.
This left the Thai national team's striker options down to just two players: Supachai Jaided and Jude Sup-sup Bell.
"The Tuck" commented, "Having only two strikers is not surprising. Yotsakorn is injured, Teerasil is injured, and Promesay hasn't had match fitness in Japan. Two strikers, to me, is reasonably okay."
"Because Jude Bell can play as a second striker, and Supachai has good potential, showing strong performances both for his club and the national team. Some players in the squad might also be pushed forward to play up front, but these two can already perform well. We still have capable players in other positions, including midfield, left wing, and right wing."
"But the concern is the central defensive pair. We have to wait and see how the coach will organize and handle that."
The Thai national team has an Asian Cup 2027 qualifying match, where a win is essential, against Turkmenistan at Rajamangala Stadium on 31 March 2026 at 19:30, broadcast live on Thairath TV channel 32.
