Thanawat speaks candidly about the Thai national team's must-win situation against Turkmenistan in the decisive 2027 Asian Cup qualifier match.
On 30 March 2026, Thanawat Suengchitthawon, midfielder of the Thai national team, gave an interview ahead of the 6th match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers Group D against Turkmenistan, scheduled for 31 March 2026.
The Thai national team has only one condition to advance to the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup: they must win. Both Thailand and Turkmenistan have 12 points each, but Thailand is behind on the head-to-head tiebreaker after losing 1-3 away on 10 June last year.
Regarding the pressure on the Thai team, Thanawat Suengchitthawon said, "Of course, there is pressure, but it is a positive kind of pressure."
"As I said, as players, pressure always comes with the role. The benefit of pressure is that it drives every athlete to be determined. Especially for this game, we hope it will be a special moment for all of us."
"The fans are an important part of our Thai national team. I hope all supporters will come out to back us. My teammates and I will perform like warriors. We hope to deliver a strong performance. I really look forward to meeting all the fans. Hopefully, we will see each other tomorrow."
The 6th match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers Group D, Thailand versus Turkmenistan, will be held at Rajamangala Stadium on 31 March 2026 at 7:30 PM.
