"Piyapong Piao-on" revealed he has already written his resignation letter and shared the areas the Thailand national team must improve before heading to the 2027 Asian Cup.
On 1 April 2026, following the Asian Cup 2027 third round qualifiers Group D final match, the Thailand national team hosted and narrowly defeated Turkmenistan 2-1 to secure a spot in the final tournament. After the game, "The Tuck" Piyapong Piao-on, a referee and spokesperson for the Football Association of Thailand, disclosed the points the Thailand team needs to address before the final round, along with B Bangpakong.
"The key issues to fix are in the attacking plays because we faced a tight game at the Asian level, with many challenges including high pressing and strong defense in the second line, as well as superior player quality. I admit that for the final round, there are many things to improve, especially the physical aspect of the game. We may need longer training camps to allow the players to recover and prepare before competing in Saudi Arabia. Regarding whether Teerasil Dangda will be called up again, his fitness will need to be checked."
On a question many wondered about, B Bangpakong asked if he had written his resignation letter yet, to which he replied:
"I give my word: if we lost today, I would have resigned already. Since we won, I will continue working. It depends on the president of the Football Association, Khun Nualphan Lamsam, to assign duties. I want Thai football fans to have confidence. The president has fixed many things, and we are moving forward well. Let's develop together, leave other issues behind, and move forward as one."
