Ayutthaya Province withdraws from hosting the King's Cup and plans to reapply next year.
On 9 Apr 2026 GMT+7, developments regarding the 52nd King's Cup football tournament, scheduled from 9-17 Nov 2026 GMT+7, were reported.
Previously, Ayutthaya, Sisaket, Rayong, and Khon Kaen had submitted bids to host the 2026 King's Cup; however, Ayutthaya has since requested to postpone its bid.
Surasak Pancharoenworakul, the new Minister of Tourism and Sports and manager of Ayutthaya United Football Club, revealed that Ayutthaya has postponed its bid to host the 2026 King's Cup until next year.
“We submitted a bid this year, but frankly, there are many areas that still need improvement. After the Football Association of Thailand inspected the stadium, locker rooms, and training grounds, we received their recommendations. We want everything to be perfect and believe we will be fully prepared to submit a bid next year.”
As a result, Sisaket Province has emerged as the frontrunner to be selected as the King's Cup host this year.
