"Nevin" delivers a sharp message to two Thai League teams after Buriram wins the Shopee Cup (video)
On 27 May 2026, Nevin Chidchob, chairman of Buriram United, spoke to Thairath Sport after the second leg of the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup 2025-26 final.
The "Thunder Castle" Buriram United came from behind to defeat Malaysia's Selangor FC 2-1 at home, winning 3-1 on aggregate to claim their second consecutive Shopee Cup title—Buriram's second trophy this season after winning Thai League 1.
Buriram United still aims for a third title to close the 2025-26 season, scheduled to face PT Prachuap FC in the Chang FA Cup 2025-26 final at Thammasat Stadium on Sunday, 31 May, at 19:00.
If the "Thunder Castle" wins the Chang FA Cup, the Asian Club Championship (ACL) Elite spots for next season will extend to Ratchaburi FC, who finished third in Thai League 1, and BG Pathum United, who placed fourth, securing their own ACL tickets.
Nevin Chidchob also urged Port FC and Ratchaburi FC, the two teams qualifying for ACL Elite, to boldly invest in strengthening their squads to compete effectively in Asia. He added a statement likely to catch attention:
"The Port FC chairman is also the president of the Football Association of Thailand. He should fully take charge himself, no need to involve others and complicate matters. I believe in being open and straightforward."
