Anthony Hudson, head coach of the Thailand national football team, spoke after the FIFA Day friendly match that ended in a 2-2 draw with the Kuwait national team. He admitted disappointment with the result but emphasized that everyone gave their all, noting many opportunities but a lack of finishing sharpness.
Hudson said, "First, I must credit all the players because everyone gave their full effort on the field. Next, I feel personally disappointed because we expected to score and achieve a better result. The game changed as we made substitutions, which opened up the play. Overall, at this point in time, it’s not easy due to the varying fitness levels of players in this camp."
"Previously, I had about 4-5 days to prepare the team, and I must admit there were differences in each player's physical condition. During the game, we made substitutions at halftime to give all players a chance to play and showcase their skills. This changed the game’s flow and disrupted our playing structure. However, despite that, the players gave their best effort and showed full commitment. We had many chances but lacked sharpness in the final third. I believe credit is due to everyone for their hard work."
"Personally, I said I was disappointed because the players deserved a better outcome. We had a plan and substitutions, and those on the field tried to keep their heads up and show fighting spirit. For example, Sarach Yooyen performed well but unfortunately received a yellow card, which in an official game could risk a red card."
"In a regular match focused on results, there must be a clear plan for player positions. But this camp's goal was to observe many players' form. I’m disappointed we didn’t win, even though the team performed well in the first half and controlled the game. It also showed that facing Middle Eastern teams is something we must prepare for in the future."
