Officially, Sisaket Province has been selected to host the 52nd King's Cup football tournament in 2026.
On 7 July 2026, the Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage announced the host for the 52nd King's Cup during the FA Thailand Awards 2025/26. The rights were awarded to Sisaket Province at the Ko Klang Nam Stadium, managed by the Sports Authority of Thailand, with a capacity of 12,000 seats, following the decision of the committee appointed by the association.
The King's Cup football tournament has been graciously supported by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej since its inception in 1968, with the royal trophy presented each year. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has continued this tradition by awarding the King's Cup trophy since the 48th tournament in 2022. This trophy is now recognized as the oldest football trophy in Thailand and the second oldest in Asia.
Mr. Siripong Angkasungkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, Member of Parliament for Sisaket Province and President of the Sisaket Sports Association; Anurat Thampratamjit, Governor of Sisaket Province; Thawit Angkasungkiat, Vice President of the Sisaket Sports Association and Chairman of the Sisaket Chamber of Commerce; and Chanin Khumyaiyo, Director of the Sports Authority of Thailand's Sisaket office, were honored to receive the hosting rights for the 52nd King's Cup in 2026. The tournament will take place during the FIFA international match calendar from 9 to 17 November 2026 as a four-team knockout event, with each team playing two matches—semifinals and finals. All matches will be classified as International ‘A’ Matches, with results contributing to the official FIFA rankings.
The competition will feature four national teams: Thailand, ranked 94th in the world; Oman, ranked 79th; Bahrain, ranked 92nd; and Tajikistan, ranked 101st. The matchups will be determined by a draw, which will be announced later.
This marks the first time Sisaket Province has been granted the rights to host the King's Cup. Previously, Sisaket hosted an international match where Thailand narrowly defeated Turkmenistan 1-0 on 27 May 2022. Hosting the tournament supports the aim of spreading football enthusiasm across various provinces in Thailand. It also aligns with the Football Association’s policy to upgrade and improve public facilities, such as stadiums and training grounds, to meet international standards as specified by the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA, enhancing Thailand’s future as a venue for international football.
