"Hudson" clarifies two matters after announcing the 25-man Thailand national football team roster for the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
On 8 July 2026 GMT+7, Anthony Hudson, head coach of the Thailand men's national football team, spoke after revealing the 25-man squad for the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026, scheduled from 24 July to 26 August 2026.
"(First point) I have some information to share. Certainly, I am very pleased to call up Patrick Gustafsson, who will join the camp starting 5 August onward."
"(Second point) Of course, this period made it difficult to decide on player selections, especially considering the preseason match schedules. My initial plan was to use U23 players, but those within that age group who have quality and talent are needed by their clubs for preseason development, so they couldn't join the camp," Hudson explained.
"As a result, the final squad announcement changed slightly, requiring a mix of youth players and senior core members to form the team."
"Ultimately, I want to thank the Football Association of Thailand and its president, Madam Pang Nualphan Lamsam, for their support and coordination in securing players to represent Thailand this time."
"I also thank the clubs for their cooperation in releasing players to help the national team during this camp, even though it is a challenging preseason period for each club. While this decision may not be perfect, discussions with club management went well, and I appreciate their collaboration."
"After this challenging selection period, overall, I am satisfied with the current squad and excited to work with the players in this camp."
"This tournament is an important opportunity for all players, including youth and newcomers, to showcase their skills and build towards the next camp in September-October. At that time, we will select the best squad to prepare for bigger tournaments. Thank you."
All selected players must report to the Novotel Future Park Rangsit hotel on 14 July 2026 at 12:00, with training scheduled that evening at the BG Training Center.

The semifinals and finals will be played over two legs home and away. The semifinals are scheduled for 15-16 and 18-19 August 2026, with the finals on 22 and 26 August 2026.
