Latest FIFA Ranking of Thailands National Team After Win Over Laos in ASEAN Cup 2026 Opener Has Some Disappointment

Latest FIFA ranking of Thailand's national team after beating Laos in the first ASEAN Cup 2026 match has some disappointments; the ranking improvement was minimal.

On 25 July 2026, the latest FIFA ranking for Thailand was released following the first group stage match of the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship (ASEAN Cup 2026), Group B, where Thailand visited Laos at the Laos National Stadium (Main 16 Stadium).

The match ended with Thailand defeating Laos, who played with 10 men, in a decisive 5-0 victory. Goals came from Teerasil Dangda in the 11th minute; Kakhana Kamyok scored twice in the 27th and 59th minutes; Yotsakorn Burapha in the 49th; and Sarach Yooyen in the 52nd minute.

This victory earned Thailand their first 3 points in ASEAN Cup 2026 and lifted them to the top of Group B, ahead of Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos, meeting their goals.

However, the win had a limited effect on Thailand's FIFA world ranking, increasing their points by only 0.99 from 1,250.80 to a total of 1,251.79 points.

As a result, Thailand remains ranked 94th globally, still trailing behind Benin at 93rd place, who have 1,252.17 points, so Thailand has not yet overtaken them.

In the ASEAN Cup 2026 Group B second group stage match, Thailand will host Malaysia on Saturday, 1 August at 20:00 at Rajamangala Stadium, with live broadcast on the TrueVisions Now application.
