Veteran goalkeeper Chatthachai Butprom revealed his goals ahead of the Thailand national team’s match against Malaysia, joking about Theerathon Bunmathan being Thailand’s Vozinha.
On 30 Jul 2026, "Boy" Chatthachai Butprom, the veteran goalkeeper, shared his objectives ahead of the War Elephants’ clash with the Yellow Tigers, Malaysia’s national team, in the second group B match of the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship, also joking about Theerathon Bunmathan being called Thailand’s Vozinha.
Chatthachai Butprom, Thailand’s national team goalkeeper, said, "I must say the result of our first away match exceeded expectations. For the game against Malaysia, our only goal is to win at home to get three points. That way, in the next two matches, we won’t be under pressure. If we have six points beforehand, we’ll definitely advance, though whether first or second place is another matter. This game is important, and we must get it done."
"As for Theerathon Bunmathan, he’s been teasing me even before I came, joking around that I’m the Vozinha of Thailand. The buzz from the World Cup is strong; Vozinha is 40 years old, and they teased me for being old, too. I’m ready and trust the coach; I believe he has a good plan. We play for the national team, not individually. I invite fans to come out in large numbers. I believe this will be a fun game. When we face Malaysia, Vietnam, or Indonesia—the four giants—any slip means elimination. It’s not that other teams aren’t good, but these are the four main ASEAN powerhouses. This game is important, so I want fans to come and support us. It will definitely be exciting."
