Sarach Yooyen gave an interview after the Thai national team defeated the Philippines 1-0 in the ASEAN Cup 2026.
On 5 August 2026, the Thai men's national football team returned to Thailand after their 1-0 away victory over the Philippines in the third group stage match of Group B in the ASEAN Cup 2026, securing a full 9 points.
Upon arrival, Sarach Yooyen, the Thai midfielder, said, “It's good that we secured 3 points. The gameplay might not have been very attractive due to the field conditions and various factors, but we managed to win.”
“This tournament isn't easy. There are many factors such as travel and back-to-back matches. The game against the Philippines shouldn't have been played on that day; it should have been postponed by a day. Footballers need travel time, and we only had one day of practice after arriving, so the match shouldn't have been scheduled then. I hope all parties can reconsider.”
“Our flight arrived at 3 or 4 a.m., and although the drive wasn't long, the rest time was quite late and insufficient for athletes.”
Thailand's next match in the ASEAN Cup 2026 Group B group stage is against Myanmar on 8 August 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
