
Heartbreaking: Hudson opens up about the Thepsirin Nonthaburi shooting before Thailand national team's 4th ASEAN Cup match. The incident shocked the community ahead of the game.
On 7 August 2026 at 14:00, at the press conference room of Rajamangala National Stadium, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) held a pre-match press conference for the 4th group stage match of the 2026 ASEAN Cup Group B between Thailand, ranked 94th in the world, and Myanmar, ranked 158th.
The press conference was led by Anthony Hudson, the English head coach of the Thailand national team, accompanied by midfielder Chaipol Adton from the team.
Anthony Hudson revealed he had learned of the heartbreaking news that morning about the shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi, which resulted in six deaths. After searching the home of the junior high school student (the perpetrator), authorities found the bodies of his grandfather and grandmother, also shot dead, bringing the total fatalities to eight. There were 22 injured, including nine critically wounded—seven children and two adults.
At the press conference, Hudson spoke about the shooting before addressing the team's readiness and updates ahead of the game: "Hello everyone, and welcome. First, on behalf of the Thailand national team, I want to express our condolences to Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi and offer our support to all staff to get through this difficult time. My deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected."
