Anthony Hudson Speaks Candidly After Thailand National Team Defeats Myanmar to Win ASEAN Cup 2026 Group

Anthony Hudson spoke candidly after the Thailand national team defeated Myanmar to claim the ASEAN Cup 2026 group championship.

Following Thailand's 2-0 win over Myanmar, with penalty goals from Worachit Kanitsribampen and Jehanafi Mama, the team secured a perfect 12 points from 4 matches to win Group B and advance to the ASEAN Cup 2026 semi-finals.

After the match, Thailand head coach Anthony Hudson said, "First, I want to thank the fans for their support. Overall, I am satisfied with the result. We managed to keep clean sheets in all four matches and have progressed to the semi-finals. In this game, we didn't use any players who were carrying yellow card suspensions. Credit goes to everyone who gave their best to achieve this result and reach the semi-finals."

"Regarding the penalty takers, we chose Worachit Kanitsribampen for the first penalty because we practiced a little yesterday. For the second penalty, we couldn’t overlook Jehanafi; he performed well in finishing drills and penalty kicks. He has sharp penalty-taking skills. Credit goes to both players for their courage in taking responsibility."

"Honestly, first and foremost, I feel proud of everyone. The players performed well and achieved the results we aimed for, even though many were fatigued. That’s why I tried to instill aggression in our play and press the opponents."

"Everyone did very well, whether starters or substitutes. The most important thing now is team preparation and planning. We want to improve fitness and raise our level of play further. As for deciding who will be the primary penalty taker, that will be decided later."

"In this match, we rested key players who had yellow cards. Some players lacked energy and were not fully active. In the first half, there were many good chances, but at halftime, some players were very tired. To secure the result, some experienced cramps and fatigue from the schedule. We adjusted our style and formation to fit the players' responses, which was quite satisfactory."

Thailand's next match will be the first leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 semi-finals against Singapore, ranked 148th in the world, at Jalan Besar Stadium on 15 August 2026.
