"Patrick" speaks frankly after returning to the Thailand national team after 17 months ahead of the ASEAN Cup 2026 match against Singapore.
On 12 August 2026 at 3:00 PM at BGTC 3 in Pathum Thani Province, the Thailand men's national football team continued training to prepare for the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship semifinal first leg against Singapore.
This training session was the final practice for the Thailand national team before traveling to Singapore for the first leg of the semifinal, focusing on tactics and playing style.
Before training, Patrick Gustafsson, Thailand's national team striker, said, "We have about one week to prepare—physically and tactically—for the match against Singapore. That's good. Our training has been going well."
For Patrick Gustafsson, this marks his return to the Thailand national team after 1 year and 5 months since the first qualifying match of the 2027 Asian Cup on 25 March 2025, where he scored the winning goal to help the War Elephants defeat Sri Lanka 1-0.
Patrick, now recovered from injury, spoke about his current condition: "My physical condition is now 100 percent. Previously, I only had some stiffness, but now I’m training at full capacity."
"I'm also happy to see the Thailand team scoring many goals. We play well offensively. Now I’m trying to support everyone on the team with the energy I have. Winning would be great. Working with Coach Hudson, whom I’ve worked with at BG, I understand his tactics and methods. Now, I just need to give 100 percent and focus on helping the team."
"Last time, I had a lot of confidence playing and found my form. My goal now is that if I get the chance to play, I will give my all to help the team win. That is the most important thing. Our main objective in the away game in Singapore is to secure the victory, and everyone on the team is determined to win the championship and every remaining match."
