"Wanchai" speaks candidly about Vietnam and Malaysia before Thailand's national team secures an opponent for the ASEAN Cup 2026 final.
On 19 August 2026 at 15:30 GMT+7 at BGTC 3 in Pathum Thani province, the Thailand national team resumed training to prepare for the ASEAN Football Championship 2026 (ASEAN Cup 2026) final first leg, where they will face the winner between Vietnam or Malaysia.
Before this session, heavy rain caused a 30-minute delay, with the focus on physical recovery and regaining fitness.
Wanchai Jarunongkran, Thailand's left back, spoke about reaching the ASEAN Cup 2026 final despite losing at home to Singapore in the second leg: "Yesterday's game was not easy because Singapore wanted a goal. We had to find ways to respond."
"The early phase was a bit uncomfortable, but after we adjusted our tactics, things improved. Although we lost, we advanced because over the two legs, our aggregate score was better, winning 4-3."
Wanchai also commented on the final opponents, Vietnam and Malaysia: "Vietnam, as you know, is a formidable team and a strong rival. Malaysia is also a good team, very determined and tough. Both are scary opponents. Whoever advances, we see both as challenging."
"The advantage, I think, lies in the first game. If we win the first match and score many goals, we'll have an edge before the away leg. Playing away means facing the crowd, the stadium, and other pressures."
"But playing at home, we must try to dominate them first. I ask all fans, whether at the stadium or watching on TV, to give us plenty of support. We will do our best to win this championship."
