Recently, Kim Sang-sik, Vietnam's national team coach, said before the game that he will definitely dance with the players in celebration if they manage to secure the championship, after winning 2-0 away against Thailand in the first leg.
“If the players and fans want me to dance, I will dance. I really hope Nguyen Dinh Bach will score, and if he does, maybe he and I will celebrate by dancing together.”
“We will play our final match, and the players have prepared thoroughly. They have worked very hard over the past two months leading up to the final. We will give our all and play a great game to create good memories for everyone.”
“This will be a historic day for Vietnamese football, and the ones who will write this history are the players.”
“I know we have the advantage, but so far we have nothing secured. Before the game, I will ask my players to give their best so we can achieve the result we want.”
Kim Sang-sik once went viral on social media for a dance video after leading Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC to the K League 1 championship in 2022.
If Kim celebrates on Wednesday night, both he and his team will inscribe their names in the competition's history.
Vietnam previously won regional titles in 2008, 2018, and 2024 but has never successfully defended the championship. Kim aims to become the fifth coach, after Raddy Avramovic, Peter Withe, Kiatisuk Senamuang, and Mano Polking, to win this tournament twice in a row.
