Latest update: Indonesia becomes the first country to finalize the broadcast rights deal for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. What is the situation in Thailand and Vietnam?
The Indonesian media outlet Indosiar Sports announced that every match involving the Indonesian national team in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 will be broadcast live on platforms and TV channels including Indosiar, SCTV, Vidio, Moji, and Nex, all managed by Emtek Media Group. The fee paid for the rights has not been publicly disclosed.
In Thailand, no progress has been made in securing a broadcast rights deal, as the asking price remains too high.
First offer round – initial price set at 3 million USD, approximately 99 million baht.

In Vietnam, as of 14 September, no company or TV station has officially announced acquiring the broadcast rights. The major Vietnamese newspaper Thanh Niên reported that some operators find it difficult to commit to buying the rights if the price remains unreasonably high.
Vietnamese media analysis suggests that after Indonesia’s Emtek Media Group became the first to secure the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 broadcast rights, FIFA might consider lowering the price further. This would enable TV stations in regional countries to purchase rights in time to air the matches for football fans.
An interesting question remains: who in Thailand will acquire the broadcast rights? And on which platform will the matches be shown?
