The Thailand national team lost 0-3 to China in the final match of the 2026 Asian Games round of eight.
On 26 September 2026 at 13:00 Thailand time, at Toyota Stadium, Aichi, Japan, the men's football quarterfinal of the 2026 Asian Games took place, with the Thailand men's national team facing China.
Thailand advanced as runners-up of Group A with 6 points from three matches and faced China, who had 5 points and topped Group B. Coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul, known as “Coach Wang,” fielded a full-strength squad led by captain Chanathip Buaphan, along with Sittha Boonla, Yotsakorn Burapha, and Thanakrit Chotmuangpak.
In the first 30 minutes, both Thailand and China tried to control possession and create scoring chances, but neither team managed to take the lead.
In first-half injury time at 45+2 minutes, China took a 1-0 lead from a free kick. Early in the second half at the 47th minute, China extended their lead to 2-0 when Hu Hetao shot from the edge of the box with his right foot, sending the ball into the net.
Then at the 63rd minute, China increased their lead to 3-0 with a goal by Zha Yuning.
At the 70th minute, Thailand had a chance to score when Chawalit Saelao passed to Worawut Noisri, who shot with his left foot, but the ball was saved by Lee How and deflected out for a corner.
No further goals were scored, and the match ended with Thailand losing 0-3 to China, ending their campaign in the men's football at the 2026 Asian Games quarterfinals.
The Thailand men's football team will return immediately, scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on 27 September 2026 at approximately 21:30.
