Coach Wang shares three key benefits after Thailand's SEA Games football team played two friendlies in China.
On 15 October 2025 at 13:30, Thailand's men's SEA Games football team arrived back at Suvarnabhumi International Airport after completing their friendly matches against China in Kunming, People's Republic of China.
The Thailand U23 SEA Games team played two friendly matches against China: one closed match and one that ended in a 0-0 draw.
Upon arrival, Coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul said, "We went to China for two friendly matches and brought in new players who benefited greatly. Our main goal was to fix defensive issues that caused us to concede goals in the previous two tournaments."
"Facing China, a team with tall and strong players, we conceded many set pieces but managed to defend them well. This squad, from the Asian Championship, missed several key players like Seksan Ratri who was called up to the senior team, and Sittha Boonla who was injured. However, we had promising newcomers such as Chin-ngern Phutan-yong, Yotsakorn Natsit, Vision In-aram, and Siriseth Ekpathumchai, goalkeeper from Chainat. Everyone given a chance performed well. We are more open now and have more usable players than before."
"Next, we will hold meetings. I have sent the player list to the Football Association to coordinate with clubs on releasing players for the SEA Games. During the FIFA window in November, we will see who can join. We plan to play two friendlies then to prepare for the SEA Games."
Following this, Thailand's SEA Games team will hold another training camp during the FIFA window in November to prepare for the men's football competition at the 2025 SEA Games, which Thailand will host in December.
