Chonnachonkok, Director of Youth Development at Buriram United, praised the Thailand national team performance by Buriram as the best, and strongly criticized returning to national team duties, comparing it to escaping from hell.
On 17 Jan 2026 GMT+7, “Nun” Chonnachonkok Chidchob, Director of Youth Development at Buriram United, gave an interview about the possibility of leading a Thailand national team again for Buriram, after previously coaching the U20 team and handing it back to the Football Association early last year. Up to now, no head coach has taken over.
Chonnachonkok said, “I don’t plan to return. Personally, in terms of results, looking at statistics over the past 5 to 8 years, the national teams Buriram managed achieved the best records.”
“To quote my father, I have escaped from hell. Why would I go back? Here, people love and like me, but there, if you do well, you get criticized; if you don’t, you get criticized too.”
“Honestly about the national team, I sympathize with all national team coaches and hope Thai people will sympathize and support them as well. While coaching, the pressure was immense. I believe no good can come from being insulted by tens of thousands of people.”
“Speaking about the national team period when Buriram managed it, I apologize if it wasn’t good enough for Thai people. I’m not being sarcastic—I truly apologize. But the statistics speak for the results.”
