Suphanat Opens Up for the First Time After ACL Elite Injury, Withdraws from Crucial Thailand National Team Match

Suphanat has spoken out for the first time after his injury in the ACL Elite forced him to withdraw from a key Thailand national team match.

On 11 March 2026, Suphanat Muenta, forward for the Thailand national team and Buriram United, posted an update on his personal Instagram after sustaining an injury during the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Elite round of 16 second leg, where his team successfully overcame Australia's strong Melbourne City at home.

Buriram United played with 10 men from the 21st minute but managed to hold Melbourne City scoreless through 120 minutes including extra time, before winning 4-2 on penalties. This marked the "Thunder Castle" making history by reaching the ACL Elite quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.

However, the match came at the cost of a thigh injury to Bank Suphanat Muenta, who has now withdrawn from the Thailand national team squad set to face Turkmenistan in the decisive Asian Cup 2027 qualifier on 31 March. Anthony Hudson has called up Yosakorn Burapha from Chonburi FC as his replacement.

Recently, Bank Suphanat Muenta posted an Instagram story showing himself looking disappointed as he was stretchered off the field due to injury, with a brief caption expressing his feelings: "It's always me."

The Thailand national team will play Turkmenistan in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifier on 31 March at Rajamangala Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on Thairath TV Channel 32 and Thairath Sport across all platforms starting at 19:00.
