Vietnamese media analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the Thailand U23 national team and Vietnam ahead of their encounter.
On Friday, 27 March 2026, updates on the Thailand U23 national team ahead of their friendly match against Vietnam in the four-nation CFA Team China International Youth Tournament XI’AN were reported by Vietnamese media outlet The thaovanhoa, which analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of both teams.
The thaovanhoa assessed the first matches of both teams, which ended in draws. Vietnam, coached by Dinh Hong Vinh, drew 1-1 with North Korea. Overall, their performance was satisfactory, starting well and maintaining possession. However, a key weakness was their inconsistency in the second half, when increased pressure disrupted their control and led to conceding a goal.
Vietnam's strengths include the determination and physical power of young players such as Cong Phuong and Le Van Thuan, who played confidently. Goalkeeper Cao Van Binh provided assurance to the defense. Yet, the team needs to improve consistency and handling pressure.
On the other side, Thailand U23 demonstrated a dangerous offense by drawing 2-2 with the Asian runners-up. They took an early 2-0 lead through fast-paced play and effective use of space. Their 5-3-2 formation in the first half was highly efficient, with good coordination and sharp finishing.
However, weaknesses appeared in the second half as well, when defender Wision Inaram had to leave due to injury and fatigue set in, allowing their opponents to equalize. This issue requires urgent attention.
Thailand U23 will face Vietnam U23 on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at 14:00.
