One team has been eliminated from the championship race at the China four-nation football tournament after Thailand's U23 team took the lead following the second match.
On 29 March 2026, here is the latest update following the conclusion of the second round of matches at the CFA Team China International Youth Tournament Xi'an, held in Xi'an, People's Republic of China.
1. Thailand 4 points (3 goals scored, 2 conceded, goal difference +1)
2. China 2 points (3 goals scored, 3 conceded, goal difference 0)
3. North Korea 2 points (2 goals scored, 2 conceded, goal difference 0)
4. Vietnam 1 point (1 goal scored, 2 conceded, goal difference -1)
*In the event of tied points, rankings are decided first by head-to-head results, then by goal difference.
This means that one team is now definitely out of the running for the championship: Vietnam. Even if they defeat China in the final match, they would only reach 4 points, but their head-to-head record against Thailand U23 is inferior after a 0-1 loss.
Furthermore, regardless of the outcome between Thailand U23 and North Korea U23, at least one team will finish with more points than Vietnam, effectively eliminating Vietnam from title contention.
Therefore, Thailand U23 will compete for the championship against host China and North Korea in the final round, with two conditions for Thailand to win: a win secures the championship outright, or a draw combined with China failing to beat Vietnam will also crown Thailand as champions.
