"Chanapat" speaks frankly despite Thailand U23's win over Vietnam, as the team aims for the Four Nations Football Championship in China.
On 29 March 2026, Chanapat Buaphan, defender and captain of Thailand U23, gave an interview after the team's second match in the CFA Team China International Youth Tournament in Xi'an, People's Republic of China.
Thailand U23 defeated regional rival Vietnam U23 1-0, with the winning goal scored within the first 20 seconds by attacking midfielder Thanakrit Chotmuangpak from Buriram United.
With this result, Thailand U23 is fully in contention for the Four Nations Football Championship title in China, with two conditions: winning against North Korea U23 to clinch the championship outright, or drawing while China fails to beat Vietnam, which would also secure the title.
Chanapat Buaphan spoke about the team's performance after beating Vietnam, avenging their 2-3 extra-time loss in the 2025 SEA Games final: "I must commend my teammates for their concentration throughout the game and their teamwork in defense. Our defense worked very well as a unit."
"Winning against Vietnam makes us happy, but we still have many areas to improve. We'll give our best in the next game and try to fix mistakes from the first two matches."
"On behalf of the team, I sincerely thank the Thai fans who support us from home and those who came to cheer at the stadium. Thank you very much."
