Chanathip Songkrasin gave an interview after Thailand's national team qualified for the Asian Cup 2027 finals.
On 31 March 2026, following Thailand's 2-1 victory over Turkmenistan, the team secured 15 points from 6 games and successfully advanced to the Asian Cup 2027 finals.
After the match, “Jay” Chanathip Songkrasin, captain of Thailand's national team, admitted he was proud of the win and happy to bring joy to Thai football fans, thanking all his teammates for their hard work.
Chanathip also said, “When the coach made attacking player substitutions, we eventually scored the winning goal.”
“It’s hard to find a player who can deliver crosses as accurately as P'Oum with his left foot. Initially, we planned for someone else to cross, but then decided to have P'Oum take it. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard and to the 40,000 fans who came to support us.”
Regarding the fireworks incident, Chanathip briefly stated, “We appeared on a show and can't go back on our words.”
Chanathip also praised the seniors on the national team: “If we have quality players like P'Oum and P'Tang, what can we do if we don’t bring quality players to play? Thanks to the great spirit within the national team. The feeling in the club is different; in the national team camp, we are united. It’s very enjoyable.”
