Anthony Hudson, head coach of the Thailand national team, spoke after achieving a 100% win rate by completing the job with a narrow win over Turkmenistan, securing a spot in the final round of the Asian Cup 2027.
On 31 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Anthony Hudson, head coach of the Thailand national team, shared his thoughts after leading the “War Elephants” to an impressive run of three consecutive wins, achieving a 100% win rate since replacing Masatada Ishii.
Most recently, the Thailand national team edged out Turkmenistan 2-1 in the final match of Group D in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers, guaranteeing their advancement to the tournament's final round.
Hudson said, “I’m happy for both the players and the fans because the most important thing is that we advanced to the next round of the Asian Cup 2027. Our athletes gave their all to the fullest extent possible. The reality is the players were under a lot of pressure, but in the end, everyone performed very well.”
Regarding the gameplay and use of the three-defender system, Hudson analyzed, “At the end of the first half, we did well. The turning point was the goal we conceded to allow them to equalize 1-1. After that, we made a few adjustments, but honestly, our three-defender setup worked effectively.”
“We know the opponents tried to use direct balls, long throws, second ball recoveries, and high physical intensity, but ultimately, it’s about the final result,” Hudson concluded.
