The Thai national team is on edge as a Thai League star faces recent bad news that may affect the June FIFA days.
On 6 April 2026, Ratchaburi FC, ranked 4th in Thai League 1, updated on the injury status of Jonathan Khemdee, a Thai national team defender, after issues arose in their latest match where they drew 2-2 at home with Buriram United, halting the "Thunder Castle" team's championship confirmation on Saturday, 4 April.
The "Dragon Kings" stated, "After playing for Ratchaburi FC in the 2-2 home draw against Buriram United last weekend, fans likely saw 'Jonny' get injured but received initial treatment and was able to continue playing the full 90 minutes."
"However, after that match, 'Jonny' underwent a detailed MRI scan to precisely check his condition, and the medical team found that"
The right shinbone was found to have a fracture!!
The left calf area was found to have a tear!!
Initially, surgery might not be needed but rest and treatment are required!!
"Nevertheless, due to this injury, Jonathan Khemdee will need to rest and is expected to be unable to return to play during the final stages of the 2025/26 season."
"Meanwhile, the 'Dragon Kings' family sends their support and wishes for 'Jonny' to regain strength and recover soon..."
The Thai national team is now hoping that Jonathan Khemdee, who helped Thailand qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals, recovers in time for the next FIFA days in June.
Thailand has been invited by China to participate in a four-nation tournament with Iran and North Korea, while Tajikistan has also reached out to invite Thailand for a friendly match; however, the Football Association of Thailand is yet to make a decision.
