
The Thailand national team faces a tough challenge, drawn in a group with three formidable teams for the final stage of the 2027 Asian Cup.
On 10 May 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held the draw ceremony for the group stage of the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia from 7 January to 5 February 2027.
It was revealed that Thailand, ranked 93rd globally, was placed in Group F with Japan, ranked 18th in the world and number one in Asia, two-time defending champions Qatar, ranked 55th, and Indonesia, another strong team from ASEAN.
The group draw results for the 2027 Asian Cup are as follows:
Group A: Saudi Arabia (host), Kuwait, Oman, Palestine
Group B: Uzbekistan, Bahrain, North Korea, Jordan
Group C: Iran, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, China
Group D: Australia, Tajikistan, Iraq, Singapore
Group E: South Korea, UAE, Vietnam, Lebanon or Yemen
Group F: Japan, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia
The 2027 Asian Cup competition will feature six groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16.
