Helio de Souza says he is not very familiar with Thai players and will focus mainly on his own team.
On 4 June 2026, Helio de Souza, head coach of the Kuwait national team, held a press conference to discuss preparations ahead of their friendly match against the Thailand national team on 5 June at 19:30. The game will be broadcast live on Thairath TV Channel 32, on www.thairath.co.th/tv/live, Facebook pages Thairath TV www.facebook.com/ThairathTV and Thairath Sport www.facebook.com/ThairathSport, as well as on YouTube: Thairath Sport.
De Souza said, “Playing against the Thailand national team this time is a positive opportunity for us, as it is part of our preparation before important upcoming tournaments. It also allows us to assess the abilities of our players, especially since we have several new players in this squad. Although many have performed well in their leagues, testing them against a quality team like Thailand is very beneficial, particularly since Thailand recently performed well against Turkmenistan.”
“A friendly match against Thailand, one of the leading ASEAN nations, is a valuable chance for us. Previously, we played teams from Africa and the Middle East. Facing a team from ASEAN gives us insight into and experience with a different style of play. In the future, we also plan to hold friendlies against teams from the Americas to prepare tactically and gain experience against diverse playing styles.”
“I may not know the Thai players individually very well, but that is not the main issue. The Thailand national team is strong and will play in front of their home fans. Our greater concern is the readiness of our own players, as we only arrived in Thailand yesterday, so their physical condition and fitness may not be fully optimal yet.”
