The Chinese national team striker revealed the reason behind the draw with the Thailand national team in the FIFA Day friendly match.
Following the Thai national football team’s 0-0 away draw against China in the FIFA Day friendly match for June 2026 at Jinhu Sports Center Stadium in Zhejiang Province, People's Republic of China,
China dominated the game, creating 24 shots and holding 66 percent possession, but failed to convert those chances into goals.
After the game, Zhang Yuning, the Chinese national team striker, said, “It’s really unfortunate. The team was able to follow the coach’s plan and created many opportunities, but we couldn’t capitalize on them.”
“Our build-up play in midfield improved, but we still need to enhance our ability to turn chances into goals.”
Speaking about the overall friendly match, he added, “We achieved the objectives of the friendly and played the style of football we wanted. I believe we will improve with every game.”
