On 1 August 2026, Anthony Hudson, head coach of Thailand's national football team, gave an interview following the 2026 ASEAN Cup group stage match 2 in Group B.
Thailand beat Malaysia 2-0 with goals by Yotsakorn Burapha and Teerasil Dangda, putting Thailand at a full six points from their first two games and reclaiming the top spot in Group B.
Anthony Hudson spoke on four points after Thailand's win over Malaysia as follows:
"Firstly, I admit I'm very proud of every player. We created good football, but as seen at the end of the game, some players were exhausted, suffered cramps, and other issues. That is my task to improve their fitness further. Still, I'm proud we secured the win and kept a clean sheet again."
"The reason we assigned Yotsakorn Burapha to take the penalty this game was that before the match, we tested all players. Yotsakorn showed confidence compared to others. The reason for choosing a penalty taker is to select someone confident and ready to take responsibility, which is why Yotsakorn was given this role."
"Regarding the 16,037 fans who came today, what the coaching staff and I can do is to have the team show their best performance and deliver good results so more fans will come. We thank everyone who came today and will strive to produce good results and form to regain fans' trust."
"I think Malaysia is a dangerous team. The key point is that without Endrick Dos Santos, their gameplay changed. However, many players in this game showed individual skill and good speed. Their wingers moved well and showed energy. Sergio Aguero also performed well. Credit must go to Malaysia's coaching staff for excellent preparation. This game was complex in many ways."
