Hudson highlights positives after Thailand national team’s away win over the Philippines in ASEAN Cup 2026
Anthony Hudson, head coach of Thailand’s national football team, expressed satisfaction after the team’s 1-0 away victory over the Philippines in the ASEAN Cup group stage, Group B, match three. The win secured their spot in the semifinals and allowed several players to rest, though he confirmed the team aims to defeat Myanmar in their next match.
In this match, Thailand narrowly defeated the Philippines 1-0 thanks to a winning goal by Waris Chuthong, bringing the team to a perfect 9 points from 3 games.
Hudson said, "We must admit that upon arriving in the Philippines, we got to the hotel around 3 or 4 a.m., and had only one training session before the match. Naturally, our focus now is on fully recovering the players physically once we return to Thailand and resume training on Thursday."
"Our plan for the upcoming match against Myanmar is to secure a win. Fortunately, we had the chance to rest some players over the last two to three games. Those who experienced cramps, injuries, tightness, or fatigue were rested, and the substitutes performed well. Our focus remains on recovery to be fully prepared. However, I confirm that against Myanmar, we will strive for victory."
In their next fixture, Thailand will play in the ASEAN Cup 2026 group stage, Group B, match four against Myanmar, ranked 158th in the world, at Rajamangala Stadium on 8 August 2026 at 20:00 Thai time.
