Thailand's national football team achieves their best world ranking in 18 years after reaching the semifinals of the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
On 9 August 2026 GMT+7, the latest world ranking for Thailand's national team was released following the conclusion of the group stage in the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship (ASEAN Cup 2026). In the final Group B match, Thailand hosted and defeated Myanmar 2-0.
Under coach Anthony Hudson, Thailand won all four matches without conceding a goal, scoring a total of 10 goals. They advanced to the semifinals as Group B champions to face Singapore, the runner-up of Group A.
Thailand's perfect record of four wins in the 2026 ASEAN Cup group stage and their progression to the semifinals have also boosted their latest FIFA world ranking. Before the tournament, they were ranked 94th globally with 1,250.80 points.

- Defeated Malaysia 2-0 (+1.75 points)
- Defeated the Philippines 1-0 (+1.78 points)
- Defeated Myanmar 2-0 (+1.41 points)
These results raised Thailand’s FIFA ranking points to 1,256.73, surpassing Zambia’s 1,255.82 points. The “War Elephants” have thus unofficially moved up to 90th in the world rankings, with FIFA expected to update rankings officially after the tournament.
If Thailand finishes the 2026 ASEAN Cup ranked 90th in the world, it will mark their best global ranking in 18 years, the last being on 12 March 2008.
