On 17 August 2026 at 14:00, at the press conference room of Rajamangala Stadium, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) held a press conference ahead of the ASEAN Cup 2026 semi-final leg 2 between the Thailand national team, ranked 94th in the world, and Singapore, ranked 148th. In the first leg on Saturday, 15 August, Thailand won 3-1 away.
The press conference was led by head coach Anthony Hudson, accompanied by Thailand national team striker Patrick Gustafsson.
Patrick Gustafsson said, "The first game was tough, but we were clinical in finishing, scoring three goals, although by the flow of the game, we should have scored more."
"The result from the first match gives us confidence for tomorrow's game. We still have 90 minutes to play and must continue to give our all because Singapore will surely come at us with full effort. We will prepare our confidence to face them."
Patrick Gustafsson also spoke about his goals after returning to the Thailand national team after 17 months: "As I mentioned before, 2025 was the toughest year of my career because I was injured all year. But my goal in returning was to be fit again and regain my confidence."
"My goal as a footballer is to compete in tournaments like this, reach the final, and lift the trophy. Wearing the Thailand national team jersey, I give 100%, supported by the fans and with my family proud."
"If given the chance, I will give my all without holding back. It was a difficult year, and I am very happy to be back in the national team. I invite the fans to come cheer for us tomorrow and give us their support."
