Significant damage to Thailand's latest FIFA world ranking after losing at home to Singapore but still advancing to the 2026 ASEAN Cup final.
On 18 August 2026, the latest FIFA world ranking for the Thailand national team was released after the second leg of the 2026 ASEAN Cup semi-final, in which Thailand lost at home 1-2 to Singapore, ranked 148th in the world.
However, with a 4-3 aggregate score over two legs, Thailand advanced to the 2026 ASEAN Cup final, where they will face the winner between Vietnam and Malaysia.
Nevertheless, this defeat affected Thailand's FIFA ranking points. After gaining 7.54 points from five prior wins in the 2026 ASEAN Cup, their total rose to 1,258.34 points, moving unofficially from 94th to 90th in the world rankings.
But losing to Singapore caused Thailand to lose 3.40 points, dropping their total to 1,254.94 points and slipping down to 91st place, just behind Zambia (90th) with 1,255.82 points. The official rankings will be updated after the tournament concludes.
