Sarach Yooyen: Feelings After Thailand's National Team Lost at Home to Singapore
“Sarach” expressed disappointment over Thailand’s national team losing at home to Singapore and urged fans to come out in large numbers to support the final.
Following Thailand’s 1-2 loss to Singapore in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal, the aggregate score of 4-3 allowed Thailand to advance to the final.
After the match, Sarach Yooyen, the team captain and midfielder, said, “I’m a bit disappointed that we couldn’t secure a win, but we knew facing Singapore wouldn’t be easy because they have improved and performed well in this game. Still, we achieved our goal of reaching the final.”
“We need many adjustments. I think we may have fallen back too much to defend given the circumstances. We also played under pressure because we conceded a goal late in the first match, leaving a two-goal gap. That caused some pressure on us. Conceding early in this match increased that pressure. However, everyone tried their best to hold the score and advance to the final.”
“At this point, it doesn’t matter who we face, but I think it will likely be Vietnam, which will be tough for us. Our fitness is still in the pre-season phase. Regardless, we have reached the final, and our only goal is to be champions.”
“For the final on the 22nd, I want fans to come and cheer loudly. We don’t know our opponent yet, but this match is very important to us.”
Next, Thailand’s national team will play the first leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 final against the winner of Vietnam or Malaysia at Rajamangala National Stadium on 22 August 2026 at 20:00 GMT+7.
