Vietnam Coachs Latest Comments Before Facing Thailand in 2026 ASEAN Cup Final

Vietnam coach's latest remarks ahead of the 2026 ASEAN Cup final clash against Thailand.

Updates ahead of the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship final first leg, where the "War Elephants" Thailand will host Vietnam at Rajamangala Stadium today (Saturday, 22 August 2026) at 20:00.

Recently, Kim Sang-sik, Vietnam's head coach, expressed his hope to make history by defeating Thailand to defend their title for the first time ever. Vietnam has previously won the ASEAN Cup three times—in 2008, 2018, and 2024—but has never secured consecutive championships. The South Korean coach aims to create a new historic milestone.

“After winning the ASEAN title last time, we have now reached the final again. This is a historic moment for Vietnamese football, and I do not want to miss this opportunity.”

“Every player wants to be champion, and I hope we can prove it on the field. We are the defending champions, and we will do everything to win the title.”

“Right now, all players are preparing well. They are all in good condition. I believe every player will perform well at Rajamangala Stadium. We have won the championship here twice before, so we have experience in the competition, and everything will turn out well,” Kim Sang-sik said.
