Phumiphat opens up after making a key save to help Thailand U20 beat Turkmenistan.
Crucial save! Phumiphat expressed joy at helping the Thailand U20 team narrowly defeat Turkmenistan, moving closer to the final round of the AFC U20 Championship qualifiers.
Phumiphat Siribunyakul, goalkeeper for Thailand U20, said he was happy to have helped his team keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Turkmenistan in the AFC U20 Championship qualifiers Group F second match. He confirmed they will give their all in the next game against Iraq to secure a spot in the final round as group champions.
In that match, Thailand U20 edged Turkmenistan U20 1-0 thanks to a winning goal by Siwa Pikulhom, giving the team six points from their first two matches.
Phumiphat, who made important saves both when the score was 0-0 and after Thailand took the lead, said, “I'm happy we got the three points. We didn't play as well as in the previous game, but fortunately we still won. I'm glad we kept a clean sheet and secured the victory.”
“Personally, I still have many areas to improve, such as decision-making when coming out to intercept the ball. The saves I made are a bonus, and I will continue to work on improving.”
“In the next match against Iraq, our goal is not just to qualify for the final round in China but also to be group champions. We will give it our all.”
The next match for Thailand U20 in the AFC U20 Championship qualifiers Group F will be against Iraq U20 at Chonburi Stadium on 6 September 2026 at 19:30 GMT+7.
