Hudson speaks frankly after Thailand national team defeats Vietnam in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 tournament.
Mission accomplished! "Hudson" expresses pride as the Thailand national team edges out Vietnam to reach the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final.
Anthony Hudson, head coach of the Thailand men's national football team, expressed pride in all his players after they defeated Vietnam 2-0 in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Group B second group match, securing a place in the final with goals by Sarach Yooyen and Chaipol Adtan.
Hudson said, "I want to sincerely thank and congratulate every player for their dedication in a very tough match. I think our performance didn’t fully match the style we wanted to play, but sometimes the game unfolds like this."
"I believe psychology played a role, especially facing a strong team like them, unbeaten in 26 consecutive matches, right? Honestly, I thought we could beat them in the ASEAN Cup because I see us as the better team. Tonight, though, we demonstrated great mental strength and patience."
"The boys did incredibly well. I’m very proud of them and proud to have reached the final. We only have one match left, so the mission is accomplished."
"Regarding my contract extension, I don’t think it affects the players much. I haven’t discussed it with them yet. What I do know is that I’m very happy and pleased to have signed the extension because this team and group of players, as I said in my first press conference, is probably one of the best I’ve ever worked with—both in terms of individual talent and character. You could see tonight everyone gave their all in a very difficult game."
"I don’t know if the contract matters much, but I’m just glad to continue working with this team. I consider myself very lucky to work with this group. It’s a joy every day to come to work with them—the way they train and treat each other. It’s a very special team."
The next match for the Thailand men's national football team will be the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Group B third group match against the Philippines, ranked 135th in the world, at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Bandung, Indonesia, on 2 October 2026 at 16:00.
