"Chanathip" delivers two key quotes ahead of Thailand’s national team facing Indonesia in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final.
On 4 Oct 2026 at 13:00 GMT+7, at the press conference room of Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Indonesia, FIFA held a press briefing ahead of the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Premier Division final between Indonesia and Thailand, scheduled for Monday, 5 Oct 2026.
The final match features hosts Indonesia, champions of Group A, against Thailand, champions of Group B.
The press conference was led by Anthony Hudson, head coach of Thailand’s men’s national football team, together with team captain Chanathip Songkrasin.
Chanathip Songkrasin said, “I believe everyone is ready, and this match should be exciting. Of course, many Indonesian fans will be cheering loudly in the stands, but I’m confident that all players will be more than 100% prepared. Facing such an environment, we are definitely ready to play tomorrow.”
“Certainly, this ASEAN football tournament is the first FIFA-recognized ASEAN Cup. My feeling is that every team has brought their absolute best squad. It’s the first time FIFA has officially recognized the event. For me, the coaching staff, and my teammates, we want to make history — that is very important.”
“If we win, we will face them again in the Asian Cup, which will boost our confidence. I believe all the younger players want to secure this victory to build confidence for themselves, for Thai fans, coaches, and other players who may have retired but want to contribute to strengthening this team.”
“The last time we faced Indonesia was probably 3 to 4 years ago, in the ASEAN Cup final. Has much changed since then? Certainly, all ASEAN nations have developed significantly.”
“Regarding the players themselves, Indonesia now has many mixed-heritage players who compete in very high-level leagues. Naturally, they have strong physiques and very good skills.”
“I’m very happy, truly happy, to have the chance to meet them again after we have waited quite a while to face them once more.”
