What happened to Port FC? They face possible elimination from the Chang FA Cup 2025/26 despite defeating Bangkok United.
On 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, following the Chang FA Cup 2025/26 Round of 32 highlight, Port FC hosted and defeated True Bangkok United, a fellow Thai League 1 team, with a score of 2-0.
Although they advanced to the Round of 16 and had a chance to win their 4th title in this competition, Port FC is highly likely to be eliminated due to fielding six foreign players on the pitch simultaneously, as follows.
Rebin Sulaka
Kaka Mendes
Lucas Tocantins
Noboru Shimura
Bryan Pereira (substitute who entered in the 74th minute)
Matheus Lins (substitute who entered in the 79th minute)
The Chang FA Cup rules state that when two Thai League 1 teams face each other, the foreign player quota on the field is 5+2, matching league regulations: 5 foreigners plus 2 ASEAN players.
However, Port FC had six foreign players on the field starting from the 79th minute, violating Article 7.8 of the Football Association's rules. This article states that if a team fields players not in accordance with the submitted list to the competition organizer and those players participate in the match, the team will be penalized with a forfeit as specified in the disciplinary regulations, and those players will be disqualified from the competition.
As a result, Port FC is likely to be penalized with a forfeit and eliminated due to the error of exceeding the foreign player quota.
