Shock as "Tono" resigns as president of Khon Kaen FC despite Thai League 3 season not yet finished, reveals immediate reason.
On 16 March 2026, Tono Pakin Kamwilaiksak, the famous singer and actor, announced his resignation as president of Khon Kaen FC after failing to lead the team to the Champions League round of Thai League 3, which would have given them a chance to promote to Thai League 2 as planned.
"Tono" took over as president of his hometown team, Khon Kaen FC, before the 2025/26 season and led the team to finish third in the Northeastern zone, narrowly missing out on the Champions League round.
Recently, Tono Pakin Kamwilaiksak announced via his personal Instagram that
- To my teammates, staff, and all Khon Kaen FC fans :-)
Be proud of yourselves, friends. You all fought with everything you had and did very well. Don’t lose your spirit just because of the results on the field.
As professional footballers, you must continue to develop for your own future and for those you love.
You all know what we were fighting against. Because we love the game and want to see more fans at the stadium, we aimed to revive faith in Thai football. This season you all succeeded; more fans came to cheer, making our football more exciting and creative. That makes me very happy.
I am proud and honored to have been your president.
When we want to develop many things and build faith among fans, we must also take responsibility for our words and the team’s goals. Since I failed to achieve my promise to promote this club to T2 this season, I take full responsibility for my words.
From today onwards, I resign as president of Khon Kaen FC.
I would like to thank Dr. Kasem Chanawong, the club owner,
all the sponsors who supported and believed in me,
and especially all the fans who have supported our team throughout. It has been a very valuable experience and time.
“I have done my job to the best of my ability.”
Tono Pakin Kamwilaiksak, substitute number 10.
Khon Kaen FC still has one remaining match in Thai League 3 Northeastern zone, hosting Udon United on Sunday, 22 March, with kickoff at 16:00.
