On 19 April 2026, following the Songkran 2026 festival, "Andros Townsend," a former English Premier League footballer now playing for Phonkanjan FC in the Thai League, joined in the water celebrations on the Thai New Year, marking his first year playing football in Thailand.
A TikTok account named “Sai Buea.Sai Yak Thiao” posted a clip showing Townsend sitting in the back of a pickup truck wrapped in a blanket, presumably concerned about his health, while his wife and children joyfully participated in the water festivities.
