Teerathon Bunmathan, a Buriram United player, shared his thoughts after the team’s away victory over Selangor in the first leg of the Shopee Cup 2025-26 final.
Teerathon Bunmathan, a versatile Thai international, confirmed his goal to lead "The Thunder Castle" Buriram United to defend their Shopee Cup title after a 1-0 away win over Selangor in the final’s first leg last night.
Buriram United, Thai League 1 champions under English coach Mark Jackson, secured a 1-0 away win against Malaysia’s Selangor from the Malaysia Super League, with Suphanat Muenta scoring the decisive goal in the 24th minute.
This gives "The Thunder Castle" the advantage before returning home to pursue a second consecutive title defense at their home ground, Buriram Stadium (Chang Arena), on Wednesday, 27 May.
Recently, Teerathon Bunmathan, a key Buriram player, said, “I’m satisfied we secured a win in the first leg because it was a tough game coming to Selangor today. The Malaysian heat made it even more challenging and caused us to sweat more.”
“The first half was our opportunity, while the second half belonged to Selangor. However, we also had chances to counterattack in the second half but couldn’t finish. We need to improve for the next game and perform better at our home stadium.”
“Returning to play in front of our fans, we want to defend this trophy. We will do our best to secure victory.”
