The "Three Lions," England's national football team, were rattled after being mocked ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
England is preparing to compete in the 2026 World Cup, with many seeing them as one of the favorites to win. However, Raymond Domenech, former France national team manager, disagrees.
"There are about 10 teams that can compete for the World Cup title, but England is not one of them. Don’t we all agree on that? They have a clear image as 'losers,' so no one takes them seriously anymore. It's truly a bad situation."
Domenech also took a jab at his own country, saying that although France did well in friendlies by beating Brazil 2-1 and Colombia 3-1, those wins came against opponents who were not at their best.
“How did we impress the world? Playing friendlies against Brazil in that condition, you have to see things realistically. We didn't beat a strong team. Colombia didn't give us any trouble at all. I have hardly ever seen a Colombian team this weak before,” Domenech said.
For the 2026 World Cup, England is in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama, while France is in Group I with Senegal, Iraq, and Norway.
