Cambodia secures rights while Thailand does not: unveiling the latest six ASEAN nations broadcasting the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
On 10 April 2026, the latest list of ASEAN countries that have purchased broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals—hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada and held from 11 June to 19 July—was announced.
According to the latest information from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), six out of eleven ASEAN nations have secured official live broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup finals, with the official rights holders named as follows.
1. Cambodia - Hang Meas TV
2. Indonesia - TVRI
3. Philippines - Aleph Group
4. Singapore - Mediacorp
5. Timor-Leste - ETO
6. Vietnam - VTV
The remaining five ASEAN countries that have yet to secure live broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup finals are Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Brunei, and Laos.
The latest reports indicate that Thailand and Malaysia are currently in negotiations with FIFA to purchase the broadcasting rights; Thailand has undergone significant recent changes.
Notably, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has removed the World Cup finals from its Must-Have list, which may result in Thai viewers not having free-to-air access to the 2026 FIFA World Cup broadcasts.
Meanwhile, FIFA is continuing to sell broadcasting rights to interested countries, requiring comprehensive live coverage of the 2026 World Cup, which has expanded from 32 to 48 teams and will feature a total of 104 matches throughout the tournament.
