On 12 May 2026, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Argentina became the first two nations to announce their final squads for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, running from 11 June to 19 July.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was the first to release its 26-man World Cup squad, led by veteran striker Edin Džeko, 40, from Schalke 04, who has played for Manchester City in the English Premier League as well as Inter Milan, Roma, and Fiorentina in Italy's Serie A.
Other notable Bosnia players heading to their second World Cup since 2014 include former Arsenal defender Sead Kolašinac, now with Atalanta, striker Ermedin Demirović from Stuttgart, and Amar Dedić from Benfica.
Meanwhile, defending champions Argentina, coached by Lionel Scaloni, initially announced a 55-player roster for the 2026 World Cup before trimming it to the final 26, with captain and star Lionel Messi, 38, from Inter Miami, included.
Argentina's roster features Premier League stars such as Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Lisandro Martínez (Manchester United), Enzo Fernández, Alejandro Garnacho (Chelsea), and Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa), but notably excludes Paulo Dybala, the Roma forward.
