
Liverpool player faces bad news as a 'favorite to win' team has made a decision ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
On 9 June 2026, the latest developments from the Netherlands national team, one of the favorites to win the 2026 World Cup, ahead of the tournament running from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Recently, Jurrien Timber, a key right-back from Arsenal, the latest English Premier League champions, suffered a groin muscle injury and will not recover in time, forcing him to withdraw from the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup, unfortunately.
Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman, coach of the Netherlands national team, has decided to call up Lutsharel Geertruida, a right-back currently on loan at Sunderland from RB Leipzig, to replace Jurrien Timber. Both players share similar qualities, able to play as right-backs and central defenders.
However, Koeman's decision is bad news for Jeremy Frimpong, the attacking right-back from Liverpool, who has not been called up for the Netherlands national team for the second time after missing out on the final 26-man squad announcement.
