Is It Clear? Tuchel Speaks Honestly on England Being Considered a Favorite for the 2026 World Cup

Is it clear? "Tuchel" speaks frankly about England being named a favorite to win the 2026 World Cup.

On 10 June 2026, Thomas Tuchel, coach of the England national team, gave a recent interview ahead of tonight's final warm-up match against Costa Rica before the 2026 World Cup, which takes place from 11 June to 19 July.

England's 2026 World Cup schedule in Group L.

17 June 2026: England vs. Croatia.

23 June 2026: England vs. Ghana.

27 June 2026: Panama vs. England.

England has been waiting for its first major championship since winning the World Cup as hosts in 1966. They came close in Euro 2020 and Euro 2024, reaching the finals but finishing as runners-up both times.

This has led to the "Three Lions" being considered one of the top favorites for the 2026 World Cup, with expectations they will reach the latter stages. However, Thomas Tuchel spoke about this, saying, "If you've reached the Euro final twice and the World Cup semi-finals and quarter-finals, it means you've gotten to that level and have a chance to win the title."

"After that, maybe a bit of luck or something else is needed. I firmly believe we've reached that point, but I don't think we are the outright favorites because of historical context."

"We see ourselves as contenders and challengers. We want to go as far as possible, but I definitely don't think we are the favorites."

Tuchel added, "Maybe it's not the right comparison, but if you go to Wimbledon and haven't won in 60 years, you're not the favorite. But of course, you can still win. That's what we want to do."

"We know what needs to be done, and it requires calmness and focus to progress. If we want to reach the summit, we must start the journey step by step, or else we'll lose concentration."

"I have confidence. We all have confidence and dreams, but that comes with hard work, responsibility, commitment, discipline, and sometimes disappointment. That's part of it. But we dare to dream, and that's very important."
